Valloire - Resort description & ski information
For a real French skiing experience, Valloire is hard to beat. This welcoming village is home to some charming traditional architecture and the kind of atmosphere that you just don't find in purpose-built resorts. Valloire is the perfect choice if your idea of a skiing holiday involves days spent on wide, uncrowded slopes, followed by evenings indulging in homely French cooking and local wine.
Skiing in Valloire
Valloire makes up the Galibier-Thabor ski area along with nearby Valmeinier. Altogether, the area has 150km of runs, many of which are ideal for beginners, with plenty of gentle, open slopes to explore. Galibier-Thabor is divided into three areas. From Valloire there is easy access to Sétaz, which has some fantastic off-piste and tree skiing, while Crey du Quart, between Valloire and Valmeinier, is home to a large number of blues and reds, as well as a snowpark. On the other side of Valmeinier, you'll find the Gros Crey area, with some lovely long reds, a decent black, and plenty of off-piste in between.
The resort & Ski Accommodation Information
Ideally situated for the slopes, Residence Les Valmonts offers a high standard of accommodation and service.
Valloire's après-ski scene has a very local feel to it, centering on a popular cluster of informal bars and restaurants. Anyone looking for activities away from the slopes will be impressed. There is a cinema and fitness centre on site. You can also have a go at paragliding and dog sledging. There is even a sledging area and adventure park for kids.
