With 12 resorts, The Portes du Soleil is one of the largest ski areas in the world. Located in the heart of the Alps, between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, you can easily travel between two countries. This area guarantees good quality snow all the winter season. The 12 resorts of the Portes du Soleil didn’t lose their authenticity. From the more modern to the more traditional village, you can discover the mountain way of life. The area has managed to combine great skiing and conviviality in the same place.

Avoriaz, Les Gets and several neighbours decided to create a unique ski area on the French-Swiss border 40 years ago. With the Portes du Soleil lift pass, you can explore the entire valley.  

Skiing in The Portes du Soleil

The area is a Natural Powder Reserve offering skiers and snowboarders a unique and unforgivable experience. The Portes du Soleil area is home to 650km of slopes with 37 green, 112 blue, 105 red, 26 black and 9 snow parks. Beginners, intermediates and experienced skiers will enjoy discover a different resort every day, a veritable dream for the demanding and novice skier.

With 8m of powder every year, the snow is guaranteed from November to the end of April. There are plenty of activities available. In Les Gets, you will find an educational and playful route reserved for 5-12 year-olds meanwhile Avoriaz has created a run through the woods with all-natural wooden obstacles. 

You definitely can’t get bored in the Portes du Soleil area. Everything is made in order to enable you having a good ski time.

The resorts

On the French side, you will appreciate these 8 resorts: Abondance, Avoriaz, les Gets, Chatel, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Montriond, Morzine and St Jean d’Aulps. On the Switzerland side, 4 resorts are available: Champery, Morgins, Torgon and Val-d’Illiez.
