Les Houches - Resort description & ski information

Of all the resorts in the Chamonix Valley, Les Houches is certainly the most family friendly. Its pistes are more gentle than its neighbours', and its wooded slopes make it a good option no matter what the weather decides to do. On top of all that, the village enjoys some great views and easy access to one of the most challenging ski areas in the world should you feel the need to explore?

Skiing in Les Houches

Les Houches itself is home to some great long gentle runs, with a good number of reds and one black thrown in for good measure. Anyone not challenged enough by the immediate area can jump in a car or on a free bus and explore the rest of the Mont Blanc area. From nearby Chamonix there is easy access to the Vallée Blanche, a breathtaking descent that starts high above the village on the Aiguille du Midi and steers through some spectacular scenery. More challenges can be found in Argentière, on the other side of Chamonix. You have a direct access the Grands Montets area for some steep reds, blues and blacks and yet more off-piste.

The Resort Information

Les Houches is a very French village, with just enough friendly restaurants and bars to give it a gentle buzz. As a result, the nightlife is far from riotous, though Chamonix is just a short drive away should you need to let your hair down. Once your skiing is done for the day, there is a climbing wall, an ice rink, and dog sledging to try out. Alternatively, you could have a go at Ski Joëring and discover what it feels like to be pulled along on your skis by a horse.
