Serre Chevalier - Resort description & ski information
If you're in search of an unpretentious French ski holiday, then Serre Chevalier makes an excellent choice. This large ski area is served by 13 villages, including the main hubs of Briançon, Monêtier les Bains, Villeneuve and Chantemerle. The area is home to a more than decent offering of 250km of slopes. The town of Briançon is the best place to head for families, and Villeneuve is the best party town. Those looking for a bit of peace and relaxation should try Monêtier les Bains.
Skiing in Serre Chevalier
With so much piste to choose from, Serre Chevalier offers an excellent range of skiing with something for every level. Below the tree line, the woods are criss-crossed with easy and intermediate runs to enjoy in most weather. Up above on the exposed mountainside, you'll find some spectacular blacks and plenty of off-piste. Beginners are better off based somewhere like Briançon or Villeneuve, while boarders and more advanced skiers will find most of what they're looking for around Monêtier and Chantemerle. No matter where you choose to stay, there is a free bus service linking the resorts, so you are free to explore to your heart's content.
The resort & Ski Resort Information
SkiFrance features Chalets du Jardin Alpin, an authentic hamlet of chalets offering the perfect setting for your skiing holiday.
Each of the 13 villages has its own feel. But all of them are laid back, sociable, and very French places, with a smattering of decent local restaurants and welcoming bars. Most of the nightlife takes place in Villeneuve, while the towns of Briançon and Monêtier offer plenty of amenities and a slice of real French life. Accessible from all are ice rinks, cinemas and fitness centres, while Monêtier les Bains has its own hot baths in which to soothe those aching joints.
