Chamonix - Resort description & ski information

As the main resort in the outstanding Mont Blanc area, bustling Chamonix has plenty to offer, including some of the most fantastic scenery in France. Tucked away at the bottom of Mont Blanc, this Grande Dame of ski resorts is not the easiest place to begin your skiing career, but it is certainly somewhere to spread your wings and indulge in some of the best off-piste skiing in Europe, along with some serious nightlife.

Skiing in Chamonix

The entire Mont Blanc area is home to 700km of slopes, along with plenty of off-piste routes. From Chamonix, you have access to the entire area by car or to the Chamonix valley by free public transport. Chamonix itself has easy access to the Vallée Blanche, a breathtaking descent that starts high above the village on the Aiguille du Midi and steers through some spectacular scenery. Please not that the Vallée Blanche is an off piste route and we recommend being accompanied by a guide.

Also within easy reach of the village itself are the areas of Brévant and Flégère, where you’ll find skiing for most abilities and some more off-piste. From nearby Argentière you can access the Grands Montets for some steep blues reds and blacks and yet more off-piste. Snowboarders will also find a snow park and boarder cross here. Anyone feeling a little daunted, meanwhile, can head to the nearby resorts of Le Tour or Les Houches for some more gentle slopes.

& Ski Accommodation Information

Ski France has selected for you Residence P&V Le Chamois Blanc, which allows you to enjoy both ski and the typically Savoyard resort.

Chamonix can get completely packed at the height of the season, and this vibrant atmosphere leads to some excellent nightlife, revolving around restaurants, pubs, clubs, and even a casino. For those not over-indulging at night, there are plenty of sports activities available during the day such as snowshoeing and paragliding. There is also a pool, an ice rink, a fitness centre and a bowling alley in the town.
