Mottaret - Resort description & ski information

Méribel-Mottaret has an excellent location right in the centre of the Three Valleys with easy access to the neighbouring resorts of Courchevel and Val Thorens. This is much more of a skiers' resort than Méribel a few kilometres below, and as such attracts a fair number of families and mixed groups. Once beginners have tested their legs here on the protected beginners’ slopes at Plattières, they can ski or catch the bus down to Méribel's nursery slopes. The more experienced can head straight for méribel-Mottaret's highest peaks and beyond.

Skiing in Méribel-Mottaret

From Méribel-Mottaret you have easy access to the entire Three Valleys area, which is home to 600km of pistes, and is considered one of the best and largest ski areas in the world. It contains a staggering 52 green runs, 128 blue, 123 red and 33 black, not to mention endless off-piste opportunities and some really wonderful scenery. There are plenty of decent nursery slopes in the Altiport area of Méribel, along with some easy blue runs. Everyone else has the run of the mountains, with a good selection of blues and reds on offer, and some fantastic black and off-piste skiing. Down the valley, Méribel is home to a very good snowpark, whilst expert skiers and boarders alike will enjoy the thrills of Mont Vallon and Mont de la Chambre.

The resort & Ski Accommodation Information

Hotel Le Mottaret lies in a peaceful location and offers the possibility to ski to and from the doorstep. A good quality hotel in an ideal location.

The focus here is very much more on families and skiing. So in comparison to Méribel, the nightlife here is quiet, although there are a number of good bars as well as the Privilege night club and the Rastro for dancing. There are a few restaurants however, should you not feel like cooking. You can always jump on the bus and head down the mountain to find the hard-core drinkers and first class eateries. As far as activities are concerned, Méribel and Méribel-Mottaret offer quite a lot, including swimming pool, skating (in Méribel), hiking, snowshoeing, hang gliding, ice climbing and dog sledging.
