The Grandes Rousses is known thanks to the famous resort of Alpe d’Huez. Including 5 resorts and more than 230km of slopes, the area is perfect for all levels of skier or boarder. The Grandes Rousses massif is located in both Savoie and Isere, in the Nothern Alps region.
Skiing in The Grandes Rousses
With the Grandes Rousses lift pass, you can explore 120 runs including 38 green, 32 blue, 34 red and 16 black. Beginners, intermediates and experts are well-catered in Grandes Rousses. Thanks to the high altitudes of the slopes, snow is guaranteed throughout the season. You will enjoy panoramic mountain views from the summit and the sunny weather. This area is called "L'ile au Soleil" (Island of the Sun). The national meteorological office says that the resort gets an average of 300 sunny days a year!
The Grandes Rousses ski area has an efficient lift system with 85 lifts connecting all the slopes. You can ski easily in all the resorts and discover different landscapes every day. Everything is made to protect the mountains and the landscapes against deforestation and therefore preserve the natural beauty of the Grandes Rousses ski area. You will appreciate breaks on the slopes in order to admire the dramatic views on the valleys.

The Resorts
Grandes Rousses area is home to 5 ski resorts: Alpe d’Huez, Oz-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Auris-en-Oisans and Vaujany. All these resorts are traditional villages, aside from Alpe d’Huez which is a modern purpose built resort. You will find a great après ski scene with a variety of cafes, restaurants and a lively club. There are plenty of activities for non-skiers like ice climbing, swimming pools, motor sports…

All ten villages have their own unique atmosphere, complete with shops, bars and restaurants. The free shuttle bus service makes easy work of getting from one village to the other.
