Les Deux Alpes - Resort description & ski information

Les Deux Alpes may not be the most sophisticated ski resort in France, but it does possess a certain charm. Perched at 1650m, this busy resort offers access to almost guaranteed snow with its 3568m high glacier, and some challenging skiing on its 225km of pistes. Popular with young party goers, Les Deux Alpes still has plenty to offer those on a family holiday.

Skiing in Les Deux Alpes

Beginners are well catered for here, with plenty of long scenic routes higher up the mountainside, and good nursery slopes near the village. Advanced skiers will be happy too, with 14 black runs to test their mettle on, and some really fantastic off-piste on the slopes of La Grave. There is an excellent snowpark here, and the resort is home to the Mondial du Snowboard competition every year, meaning that it is more than geared up for every snowboarder's needs.

The resort

There is definitely a party atmosphere in town, with a wide range of bars and a few clubs to see you through most evenings. There is also a good collection of restaurants including the usual French, Italian and British offerings. There are plenty of shops, and non-ski activities include snowshoeing, ice climbing, hang gliding and quad biking, while others may enjoy a trip on a skidoo, and kids will love the sledging area and trampoline. If that isn't enough, there is also a cinema and bowling alley in town, and a gym and sauna for those seeking respite from the snow.
