Peyragudes - Resort description & ski information
Situated high in the Pyrenees near the Spanish border, Peyragudes is an exciting alternative to France's Alpine ski centres. This bustling little resort has a laid-back, family vibe with plenty for children to enjoy. Not only that, it is right in the middle of the Pyrenees National Park, which means there is plenty to explore in the local area.
Skiing in Peyragudes
Peyragudes enjoys 60km of pistes which snake in and out of trees above the valleys of Louron and Larboust. There are plenty of scenic blues and reds to enjoy up here, with a few blacks thrown in for good measure, while further down the mountain, there are a selection of greens to get novices off to a good start. There's also a snowpark with half pipe and boarder cross, as well as 180 snow cannons to ensure the quality of the snow no matter what the weather.
The resort
Families will enjoy the fact that nightlife isn't top of the bill here, though there are just enough restaurants and bars to give Peyragudes a nice buzz. There are plenty of activities to enjoy apart from skiing, including dog sledging, snowshoeing, hiking and paragliding, while kids will love taking part in the animal tracking walks. Just 15km down the road in the town of Loudonvielle, you'll find a cinema and casino, or straightforward relaxation in the Balnéa fitness centre complete with pool, sauna and kids' area.
