Valmenier - Resort description & ski information

Valmeinier has a fantastic location, with its sunny snow-sure slopes offering something for everyone. You can choose to stay in the traditional village at 1500, from where you have access to neighbouring Valloire, or the more modern ski-in, ski-out accommodation at 1800 further up the valley. No matter where you stay though, this is a great choice for families and mixed groups, with access to 150km of slopes across the Galibier-Thabor ski area.

Skiing in Valmeinier

Galibier-Thabor is divided into three areas; from Valmeinier there is easy access to the Gros Crey area, with some lovely long reds, a decent black, and plenty of off-piste in between. Crey du Quart, between Valloire and Valmeinier, is home to a large number of blues and reds, as well as a snowpark, and on the other side of Valloire, you'll find Sétaz which has some fantastic off-piste and tree skiing. Wherever you ski though, you will be able to enjoy uncrowded slopes, a speedy lift system, and some really great scenery.

The resort

These quiet villages are hardly nightlife meccas, but there are plenty of decent restaurants and bars to enjoy, complete with traditional French atmosphere and the occasional smattering of live music. Kids will enjoy the sledging areas while other activities on offer include ice skating, ice climbing, snowshoeing, dog sledging, hiking and paragliding.
