Location

Ideally located on the ski slopes of the Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine, the Chalet Sophie provides you with the perfect ski-in, ski-out accommodation. The chalet is exclusively located in The Altiport, a tranquil settlement, a little higher up the mountain (approximately 500m) from the bustling centre of the Alpe d'Huez, where numerous bars, restaurants and boutiques can be found, as well as a swimming pool, leisure centre, ice rink and cinema.

The Chalet Sophie is a short walk from Les Bergers area of Alpe d'Huez, where our ski hire shop is conveniently located and a free shuttle bus runs frequently to the resort centre.

Ski direct from your front door on the gentle green slopes bordering the resort, which are ideal for beginners. More experienced skiers can venture straight out to the lifts at Les Bergers, giving you direct access to the exceptional Alpe d'Huez ski area.

The Chalet

Beautifully furnished, Chalet Sophie is decorated in the traditional Savoyard style, with a large fireplace, wood and stone interior and deep colours giving the rooms a warm feel. There is plenty of space in all of the rooms, with a large open-plan living area with satellite television, which is wonderfully cosy when the fire is roaring.

Chalet Sophie is equipped with an American kitchen with all the modern amenities, including hotplates, an oven, microwave, a dishwasher, extractor fan and fridge, plus all crockery and pans, allowing guests to cook and eat as and when they please. The chalet offers guests total comfort and space, sleeping up to 12 people, with multiple en-suite bathrooms and toilets. The chalet also offers its own private balcony, providing panoramic views of the mountains, plus a private sauna in which to unwind.

We include: beds made on arrival, fridges stocked*, bath robes and slippers, mid-week and end of stay cleaning, mid-week towel change, local tourist tax, satellite TV & free WIFI access in the chalet...

*If you choose our contactless catering option, then food and drink are included in the cost. We will supply you with breakfast every day, afternoon tea and snacks, pre-dinner nibbles, plus a three course dinner on six of the seven nights, which also includes unlimited red and white wine and a few beers.
*If you choose our self catered option, food and drink are not included in the chalet price, so you have the freedom to cook at home, or try out the great local restaurants in resort.

Please note that this chalet is not wheelchair accessible and would not be suitable for people with restricted mobility.

Classic Contactless Catering Service

Ski France presents the next generation of chalet holidays, for a contactless world. Your chalet will be ready on arrival - beds made, dinner ready and fridges stocked*, wine-cellars replenished, skis and lift passes all booked. But you won't see us. We'll be at the end of the phone, but there will be no contact, unless you need it. You and your family will be safe and looked-after, as we work in the background, providing everything you need.

Our contactless catering service comes with the choice of two pricing options, a fixed menu with food and drink included in the price, and our self catered option which allows you greater flexibility to eat and drink whatever you desire and the cost of the food is on supplement, at cost price, and depending on what produce you choose to order.

For those looking for a simple packaged chalet price, we are offering an all-inclusive price, which includes rental of the chalet and your food and drink for the week. Included will be breakfast, afternoon tea, a three course dinner on 6 out of 7 nights, plus unlimited wine and some beers. We have prepared a delicious menu for the week, with a mix of ready prepared meals from a local delicatessen and easy to cook dishes or sides. All that will be required from you is to pop a few things in the oven and throw together a few ingredients to make a simple salad, or steam a few vegetables as sides to your main meal.

Perhaps you want the freedom to choose your own menus, or perhaps you'd prefer to eat out more than one evening during the week, or you just love to cook yourself and enjoy the holidays where you have time to do this in a relaxed way. That's where our self catering service comes in. As an alternative to the service detailed above, we will also offer a lower rate, which does not include the food and drink for the week.

Our aim is to provide the safest possible environment for a ski holiday, whilst staying as affordable as possible. The new way to holiday will be by enjoying the facilities, food and beverages but without the staff waiting on you hand and foot. That will keep things safe and affordable. However, for those in search of a little more luxury, we are able to provide drivers, chefs, daily cleaning, ski lessons etc, all of which can be discussed at the time of booking or with our concierge service prior to arrival.

*Please note that for the self catered option, ski hire and lift passes come at additional costs and are not included in the chalet price. Ski hire and lift passes can be booked in advance with our preferential rates. For our fixed menu option, the price does not include ski hire and lift passes, but it does include breakfast and afternoon tea for 7 days, plus a 3-course dinner with beer and wine for 6 days.

Alpe d'Huez

Alpe d'Huez is a large purpose-built resort with an outstanding range of facilities and services, ideal for those looking to enjoy an action-packed holiday both on and off the pistes. At 1860m altitude, the south facing resort benefits form the winning combination of lots of sunshine as well as a great snow record. At only 1 hour 30 minutes from Grenoble Airport, Alpe d'Huez is easily accessible from the UK and vies with Les Deux Alpes for the title of the best resort in Isère.

The Ski Area

Previously known as the Les Grandes Rousses Ski Area, the Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski is spread across 10,000 hectares with 250km of linked pistes to explore. The area comprises of five ski resorts and two traditional mountain villages of varying character, of which Alpe d'Huez is the largest and most popular. With an altitude range of 1130m-3330m, culminating at the summit of the Pic Blanc, the ski area boasts a variety of ski terrain and an impressive vertical descent. With one of Europe's largest nursery areas, the resort is ideal for beginners whilst more experienced skiers will enjoy the length and variety of blue and red pistes descending from the higher peaks. Experts will enjoy testing themselves on the infamous Sarenne, which at 16km in length, boasts to be the longest black piste in Europe.

Activities

Indoor activities include a trip to the cinema, or a pampering day at the spa. For something more active, there is ice climbing and snowmobiling. Animal lovers can enjoy ski joëring, whereby horses pull skiers along behind them in the snow, or husky sledding. For a once in a lifetime activity that rewards with breath-taking views, there's paragliding or helicopter rides to try.
