Location

The three-star Residence le Cheval Blanc is located in the pretty mountain village of Val Thorens, in the French Alps. The area is well known for its fantastic skiing conditions and slopes, with a huge range of other winter activities to be enjoyed in the mountains of the Tarentaise Valley in the Western Savoie region.

Offering a fantastic location, Ski France's Residence le Cheval Blanc enjoys a ski in ski out location, just 20 metres from the Les Péclets ski lift. There are shops, bars and restaurants all just a short walk from the apartments, as well as the resort's sports centre just five minutes away.

Apartments

Enjoy the comforts of the Residence le Cheval Blanc during your stay, with added touches of luxury to ensure you feel more at home. There is a satellite TV, as well as free WiFi in the complex. Sheets and towels are included, beds are made upon arrival, and towels are changed at mid-stay. A cleaning kit is at your disposal (sponge, dishwashing liquid, dishwasher, garbage bags, cloth) and the end-of-stay cleaning is included.

Each of the rooms are decorated in a warm and cosy French mountain style, with warm wooden furnishings, comfortable interiors and warm colours. There are large windows in most of the rooms, ensuring guests can make the most of the pretty views over the mountains, as well as the twinkling lights of the resort during the evening. There is also a fully equipped open-plan kitchen in each, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy the freedom of a self-catered holiday in the Alps. Each of the apartments also has its own balcony.

The residence offers for free a luggage storage, and ski lockers. Guests can rent baby cots and highchair at the reception and raclette, fondue and pierrade appliances. There is also a bakery delivery service.

All of the apartments at the Residence le Cheval Blanc are self-catered, meaning guests can enjoy freedom to make their own meals in the open plan kitchen, or enjoy the restaurants in the resort. Val Thorens is home to a small range of restaurants, serving delicious hearty French dishes as well as some international options. For those wanting to prepare their own meals there are local shops and small supermarkets within the resort, perfect for picking up supplies.

Ski Area

The Val Thorens resort can be found at an altitude of 2300 metres, the highest ski resort in Europe, meaning the conditions are excellent throughout much of the ski season. Offering access to the largest linked ski area in the world, the 3 Valleys ski area, this is ideal for keen skiers looking for a challenge, as well as newbies looking to learn. There is a range of ski schools to choose from, with almost all of the instructors speaking both French and English, as well as an excellent selection of terrain in the 3 Valleys. The 3 Valleys is situated at an altitude of 1800 m to 3230 m and offers visitors over 600 km of well looked after slopes. There are 11 green runs, 30 blue, 31 red and eight black slopes to choose from, as well as plenty of off-piste trails. And with stunning views from the top, you'll want to take the chair lift up again and again.

Activities

With access to the huge mountainous region of the 3 Valleys, there are plenty of activities for families, couples and groups in Val Thorens as well as the wider area. Ice diving is a must for those wanting to try something involving lots of adrenaline and involves diving into the crystal clear but freezing cold waters of the Lac du Lou, while airbagging will have you jumping from the falls onto an air cushion. It doesn't get much scarier than that!

For a more sedate way to explore the area there is also hiking, with snow shoes available to rent from the sports shops in the town centre. And for something the whole family can enjoy why not take everyone dog sledding on your holiday in Val Thorens?
