Saint Sorlin d'Arves' incredible location is right in the heart of the Savoie department of the Rhone Alps region of southeastern France. The resort is a part of the Sybelles ski area and as a result boasts convenient connections to nearby towns and some beautiful views over the surrounding region. At Madame Vacances we have selected the very finest spot in the resort for our luxurious residence, Les Fermes de Saint Sorlin. The property looks out onto the stunning Aiguilles d'Arves mountain range nearby, and treats guests to unlimited use of the heated indoor swimming pools and cosy apartments, which sleep up to 12 people.

The resort of Saint Sorlin d'Arves is friendly and sociable throughout the summer. Appetisers and drinks are served outside the tourist office every Sunday morning and are a great way to meet both locals and guests. This atmospheric event is followed by an outdoor concert complete with a bouncy castle for children, with something for everyone to enjoy in the town over the summer months. There is even a poem and drawing competition to keep the younger guests entertained, while adults can meet fellow tourists and get to know the resort. Another child-friendly activity is visiting and even milking the Abondance cows in the mountain fields, with friendly farmers inviting you to see how they work and showing you how it's done.

The resort of Saint Sorlin d'Arves boasts more than 100 kilometres of marked hiking trails that are just waiting to be explored. These mountain paths range in degrees of difficulty, so everyone, from families with children to experienced hikers can enjoy the trails. These walks can be taken independently or under the guidance of highly experienced mountain leaders, ideal if you want to learn about the stunning surroundings of the resort. Hiking around Saint Sorlin d'Arves in the summer is an incredible experience that guarantees beautiful views of the alpine landscape and the chance to get up close and personal with a stunning array of flora and fauna. There are also paths which have been specially adapted for wheelchair access along with chairlifts available to allow easy access for wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility to and from the hiking trails.


Another great way to explore the rugged green landscape around Saint Sorlin d'Arves is mountain biking. The resort has a number of cycling paths in addition to mountain bike lifts, allowing keen cyclists to explore the stunning scenery with ease. The most popular spot for cycling is in the Arves Valley, or for something slightly more child-friendly, why not try donkey riding through the mountains. The vast majority of eateries in the region serve traditional French food and authentic alpine cuisine, using tasty ingredients sourced from the surrounding mountains. Restaurants in Saint Sorlin d'Arves cater to all budgets, with some Michelin star options on offer as well as plenty of affordable bistros to dine in. For a real alpine experience, head to the top of the rugged mountains to sample some of the delicious traditional cuisine at the resort's altitude restaurants. L'Alpe restaurant serves up tasty food and drinks as well as amazing panoramic views of the scenery for miles around. Down in the heart of the resort, there are plenty of family-friendly bistros and snack bars to choose from. Le Gros Caillou is a firm favourite with families, and during the summer months this picturesque diner opens up its slope side terrace and serves authentic Savoyard lunch and dinner al fresco, with a varied children's menu available. It's a great place to enjoy the scenery as you soak in the warm sunshine and fresh Alpine air.


Dance til dawn


After a fun day out and a filling evening meal, guests can enjoy the lively and friendly atmosphere of Saint Sorlin d'Arves by paying a visit to one of the resort's nightlife venues. There is only one nightclub in the region, the D'Sybell Club. This modern club plays mainly dance and electronic music and has a trendy, modern interior. There is a free shuttle bus to and from this venue, which runs throughout the evening, meaning you can have a warm ride home, without having to drive. Alternatively, pay a visit to one of the bars and pubs of the resort, such as the Avalanche Café, which serves reasonably priced drinks and stays open until late.

Lift passes


Three chairlifts remain open in the resort during the summer. They are Choseaux, Eau d'Olle, and Plan du Moulin Express. Summer lift passes can be purchased through the Sybelles website and are available for groups and solos, one day and season long.


Childcare and family facilities


There are plenty of options available for childcare facilities in Saint Sorlin d'Arves. These include evening babysitters, day care kids' clubs and schools, and even holiday tutors! Most of the nannies and babysitters speak both English and French, and are a great way to keep your children entertained as you enjoy a night out in the resort.


Parking


There are parking facilities available throughout the resort, including a free short stay car park in the centre of the village. The long stay car parks in Saint Sorlin d'Arves are charged at a reasonable fee.
